Another way I HAVE to use is change the rotors and pads every 6 months.
I have problems, like others with warping brake rotors. So I keep
returning them, getting a new set for free (well not S&H) and voila,
that hex bolt comes out really easily. They have hardly had time to think
about rusting in place.
Perhaps I should try this approach with the exhaust system...(I don't
think so).
