[bmw] shift feel 84' 318i

Liz
Hopefully, the problem is in the shift links/bushings and exterior
to the gearbox.
That vintage of 5-speed has aluminum shift forks, which suffer from abuse.
People who rest their hand on the shift knob while driving don't
realize that slight pressure on the shift fork machines them away.
   I've had to replace several.
