Subject: [bmw] Seat heater relay...where is it?
I've looked in my Haynes manual (useless thing that it
is) and all over my car trying to find where the seat
heater relay is. Nobody I know can find a reference
in their Bentley manuals either. Is there one for each
seat? My driver's side seat heater doesn't work.
Both the back and butt elements quit working at the
same time, so I'm assuming it's not the elements, but
something that controls them. I already tried swapping
the switches, same problem. The only thing I can think
of left is the relay(s). Thanks in advance for any
help.

Subject: [bmw] Seizing Alternator Bearings
The alternator bearings are starting to seize on
my wife's 188K mile '86 535i.
Does anyone have any advice on rebuilding the
alternator? Perhaps, I should just buy the $65
used part?

Get another set of winter wheels. You can pick some orig in fair shape for
winter use. Do not ruin your sport tires with chains

Subject: [bmw] OBD diag software and tools
Hey All,
I'm in the market for a diagnostic scan tool, and I'm liking what I see
at <http://www.auterraweb.com/>. Has anyone used it, who can chime in
some feedback?
Relatedly, can anyone make a suggestion for an inexpensive OBD I tool,
or one that can interpret OBD I and OBD II? And can someone confirm
when exactly the E36's switched to OBD II? (The Federal mandate was for
'96 and newer, but I had a '95 525 with it.)
Thanks,
Drew Mouton

Subject: [bmw] 5 Series Offset Question
Hi All,
I have someone interested in the 5 series 17" wheels I have for sale off of
my E28 535i, and he wants to know if they will fit a 94 540i. As far as I
understand they should since that is the E34 body style and offset didnt
change but I want to verify before I tell him
Thanks for the replies in advance
wheels can be seen here www.oyabuntatsu.com/wheels
