Re: [bmw] hyperactive power steering?

The first thing to check is the filter at the very bottom of the Power steer reservoir (that is your model has this) My 86 535i had a groaning sound at the beginning then got worse over a short fe months. A 10 dollar item and a do it yourself job.

I own a 1990 735i and at times it seems like all of the feedback in the
power steering goes away and it is like driving an old Cadillac. Even
worse is that it happens in slow speed corners and you over steer because
the wheel gets so light.

I have had a bunch of BMW's from this vintage and never seen anything like
this. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Henry
