I don't know the story behind the photos, but I know that it's not a BMW.
The first clue (other than the badge on the trunk, exhaust, body & interior details) is the fact that it's a hatchback car with 4-bolt wheels. The last one of those BMW made was the 2002. The E36 318ti had 5 bolts wheels.

I believe that it's an Escort (only half of it is in the photos).
