re: Subject: 528e - Won't start, won't run:

Sounds like it could be the coolant temperature sensor.
Reasons to replace it include that its a cheap item, easy to replace, and if it isn't the cuplrit, on a car of that vintage has a good chance of going bad sometime in the future.
More expensive items that could be the problem include the fuel pumps or the Air Flow Meter.
To decide which way to proceed, check if you are getting a spark, and check if the injectors are giving a good spray, or any spray at all. A dribble versus a good spray could indicate fuel pressure problems, while no spray could indicate a bad ground from the injector harness.
Best way to check if its the AFM is to try another one in its place. If a shop wants to sell you a new AFM or fuel pumps, have them guarantee its the fix, since they are too expensive to needlessly replace.
