[alfa] Alfa technical history

Try Chris Rees' "Original Alfa Romeo Spider." Great book. I'm not sure it gets as deep as sychro ring differences, but he does cover the major mech and cosmetic changes.

As far as the SPICA injection system goes . . . . yes there were some fairly important changes. Most noteably the 69 model pumps had only an internal fuel cutoff whereas later pumps had an electromechanical fuel cutoff solenoid. Also, in 1980, the induction system changed to a single butterfly valve for air intake vs the previous 4 (one for each cylinder. As far as the pumps go, there were a couple of minor changes, but each year had a different 3D cam due to the changing emissions standards, as well as some different cams interyear due to even more strigent Calif standards. But to a great degree the pumps were the same after 69. The 3D cams (fuel delivery scheduling) are interchangable between the post 69 pumps.
