RE: [alfa] stuck cylinder head
Ed -
I've never had any trouble using the tool to break a head free.
I think if you use some common sense, you'll be ok. It usually does not take
that much torque on the nut to break the head free from the block, so if you
start really cranking on it and it doesn't move STOP as there is something
else holding it, or the studs are corroded to the aluminum.

Subject: [alfa] stuck cylinder head
I got some good advice about constructing and using a factory type puller
to get the stuck cylinder head off my GTV engine. One correspondent has
pulled
the threads from the spark plug holes using the tool, so I plan to use a
torque wrench. Can anyone suggest a torque setting for this operation?
Spark plugs take about 24 lb-ft, but I imagine that it will take more than
that to
move the head.
