Skip, the bolts are simply to simulate the head studs for photographic
purposes.

As you can see, I've used relatively thin plate.  I've never needed anything
more rigid, though I recommend anyone using this method alternate to the front
and rear of the head to reduce the chances of warping it or wedging it on the
studs.
