I entrusted all such work to Bob Vollner at European Auto Specialists, in

valves, Bob reassembled the motor and we never again had a belt failure. My
confidence on the tensioner issue lies with those who have done the job
successfully, over and over, and are aware of the details that can make the
difference. Besides being technically competent, Bob is an honest fellow who does top
quality work, and who will not steer you wrong. Their number is 513-891-8450,
ask for Lee Scovanner, if you choose to contact them.
Dave,
Thank you very much for your recommendations and opinions. I'm not sure what
I'll be doing about my timing belt yet, but one factor is my distance from
known competent ALFA mechanics. Of course, I knew this going in, but it still is
an issue. As long as we're talking about professional help, does anyone in
Nashville or St. Louis have a recommendation on a shop to do timing belt service
for my LS?
Thanks,
Bob A.
