[alfa] Elongated alternator mount hole repair?

I started to disassemble a '73 2L engine for rebuild. The engine came from a parts car so I don't know its history. When I removed the alternator from the front cover its mounting hole was badly elongated, and so was the mounting hole on the engine's front cover. The alternator must have been moving side to side on the front of this engine for a long time, probably because the mounting bolt was loose and the alternator was primarily secured at the top.

Anyone out there have experience with this problem? Suggestions for repairing the elongated front cover alternator mount hole? Drill it out and install a sleeve? TIG weld it up and rebore the hole?? Find another front cover? (Same questions for the alternator)..

Thanks in advance. //KCT, Powell, TN --
