Re: [alfa] Re: alfa-digest V9 #1077, removable rear window for spider top

Biba, George,

I also asked about zip-out windows some time ago and got lots of responses
stating that most of the main top suppliers can provide the removable
clears. They may need a little coaxing for a special order.

Other options would be to take your otherwise serviceable top to an
upholsterer, probably a marine specialist, and have them install a zippered
window and make a few spares while they are at it. Try to have them install
the clear so that the zipper is well covered by the cloth, or add a strip of
velcro to cover the zip so it doesn't scratch the clear.

I've only had my Duetto a short while but it's roof looks quite new. It
folds quite easily now that I have the knack, and the window section folds
quite neatly in half with a little guidance. If I were to leave the roof
down for a prolonged period I would likely insert a rolled-up towel in the
trough formed by the window to reduce creasing, scratching and moisture
fogging.

I borrowed a can of 'Plexus' plastic cleaner/protectant from work and a
little of this stuff seems to keep the grime at bay.
