Long shot but on my '79 116 coupe water used to come off the front tyre at
speed and force itself up into the top-rear recess of the inner guard
(fender).  Alfa had failed to apply enough sealant to this area and there
was a small gap in the panels which allowed the water to find its way into
the area at the base of the windscreen and drip onto my foot.  I only
discovered the gap when I removed the small plate at the base of the inner
guard to clean out the accumulated mud, and noticed a pinpoint of light from
the torch I'd left switched on in the cabin.
