[alfa] GTV-6 wipers: swept area

I got some wiper arms for my GTV-6 that aren't quite as worn as the 
original ones, so that the blades are more perpendicular to the glass 
now--wiping is much improved.  However, the swept area is now somewhat 
less!  The driver's side, at least, doesn't sweep out as far as it used to. 
The obvious answer is that I installed them one spline off, but when they 
park they go to the exact same position that the old ones went to.  What's 
going on here?  Does the control circuitry have some sort of mechanism by 
which it can tell when they've hit the bottom of the windshield (increased 
current draw) and stop them in the same place every time?  If that were the 
case, wouldn't they sweep out just as far every time, too?
