[alfa] Re: V6 Engine swaps



I kinda like the 914 idea, although it's perhaps a bit wild for my tastes (if that's what you're after, stick it in a Europa). I've always thought the 914 was screaming for an Alfa Boxer transplant, myself. If you wanted to be really badass, maybe you could even fit the inboard brakes from a 'Sud. The hardest part of any mid-engine project is going to be the shift linkage, I imagine.

heh.  Have to agree there!  You would basically, be making a GTV6.
Fantastic brakes on the 944, though!

Hey, what about the 914?  Mid engined, light, plenty of people make kits
to make V8 swaps, so you could get the other parts easily...

As much as I dislike the 944's engine and respect the rest of the car, an
engine transplant sounds like an awful lot of work to make a wannabe
GTV-6 a little more like the real thing, when you could pretty easily
just go
out
and buy a real GTV-6.
