i did this numerous times in my Milano, up until i sold it at ca. 118k miles.
it made the round trip from upstate NY to Florida on several occasions,
as well as numerous extended race track trips (the longest being to
Summit Point and to Mid Ohio.)

the timing belts don't magically self destruct at 30k miles. make sure that
there's no oil leaking near/on the belt, and make sure that the water pump
isn't leaking (i generally changed water pumps whenever i changed timing
belts) and go for it.
