RE: [alfa] spider heater valve

Jonathan -

6 to 8 hours to change the heater valve in a series 4 spider is about right.
It is an ugly uncomfortable job.

The knee bolster has to come out, which means partially disassembling the
center console, and once that is out of the way, there just is not much
room. It helps if you are pretty small and worked in the circus as a
contortionist.

I can probably do a heater valve on an earlier (Spica) spider in under an
hour and half if that. It takes me close to a full day to do one on a series
4 car, and I'm sore for a few days afterwards.

Has anyone ever seen a flat rate manual for an Alfa? That ought to be good
for a few laughs ...

HTH,

Jeff

Subject: [alfa] spider heater valve

I know I've asked this before, but can somebody tell me how long it should
take to replace the heater control valve on a 1992 Spider? Assume all proper
tools and that I am a competent amateur mechanic. It doesn't look all that
tough to me, but the shop is quoting me 6 hours to R&R the thing. Thanks.
