In my experience air tools are surprisingly cheap. I think my impact wrench was <$40. Sure it's no Ingersoll-Rand, but I've been using it for a few years with no problems. Of course air-compressors can be pretty expensive. If you can live with the fact that you can't use a die grinder, air sanders, or sand blasting guns, then you can probably live with a pretty small pretty cheap compressor. Just don't get a direct-drive "oilless" compressor. They are _LOUD_ and they will wear out (if they don't wear you out first) quickly.

If you spend much time at all doing work on cars it should be pretty easy to amortize the cost of a good compressor.
