...a bit behind in my Digests.

FWIW: The San Francisco-area ex-dealer advised me that an easy-to-find 50A fusible link is fine, versus the 40A that is specified. 

The link getting overloaded usually occurs when your electrical system is highly loaded: stereo, heater blower, bun warmers, headlights, etc.

Disclaimer: Neither the dealer or myself are liable if your car burns to the ground. I'm only passing-on 3rd party advice. If a good source of 40A ones are found, let us know!
