[alfa] Re: Paint Code or Equivalent for 1974 Spider Wheels?

Hi Mike:

I've always looked at the original paint on Turbina's as more of a white-wash than a paint. It's very thin, and that odd, greenish tint is the primer showing through. I've got an original never-mounted spare wheel in my '74 Spider's trunk, complete with an unused XAS tire, and by today's standards, the paint is terrible. If you're looking for originality, find one of those places with a color matching computer, and have them custom mix some paint for you. If you don't care about that, I like the silver wheel paint used on Euro cars like Porsche, BMW, Volvo, etc., and that is available at the car dealer's paint shops. Griot's sells a nice wheel restoration kit, too.

I've got a new "repro" set of Cromodora Daytona's on my '74 Spider, and their finish is equivalent to that on any new Euro car, which makes the car look much better, overall.

Subject: [alfa] Paint Code or Equivalent for 1974 Spider Wheels?

Dear Alfitsi,

Listening to the discussion on magnesium wheels prompts me to ask if anyone
knows the correct wheel paint or something equivalent for a 1974 spider?

I didn9t find the answer looking through the archives. I could be I put in
the wrong search criteria.

Thanks,

Mike
