RE: [alfa] engine stands

I have two stands in my shop now, one is a cheap Harbor Freight thing
that cost under 100 bucks. The other is a beautiful 175 dollar item
that came from a machine shop up in Northern California and is gorgeous
and would probably hold a v12 RR Merlin.

Both are quite capable of handling the feathery Alfa unit, but each
would be incomplete without Jim Steck's Autocomponenti Alfa engine
adapter. The end that fits in the stand is a universal size (1 7/8" or
something) but the other end allows you to bolt the Alfa block from the
engine mount side so that the engine can be turned over about it's
longitudinal axis rather than the conventional lateral. It's a work of
art, and priced very well.

I think his website is autocomponenti.com, perhaps he'll pipe up and
tell you how to get one.

Well worth the money and a great way to support a fellow Alfisti.

Regards,
TJ
