[alfa] Update on my (his) GTV6
The option I suggest is #1. Get it fixed. Keep driving it.
Will readily admit this will be most likely the least profitable, if
there is even a modicum of profit in the entire 'project'.
Gonna piss off a whole bunch of folk, but since it's an '85, believe
it's worth saving. [Back to three year old SCM price guide]: High price
for an '81 - '83 GTV6 - $4k. '84 - '86 GTV6 - $7.5k. Unfortunately,
there is a reason.
Dennis, go to a medium priced, but caring body / paint shop. If their
estimate is below or matches your 'pay out', do it. If not, you're on
your own. Assuming it is a pretty reasonable estimate, the car turns out
esthetically / mechanically well, She's Back! - and probably looking
pretty darn spiffy. If not, sell her on eBay, telling the entire story.
Betcha at least you get your money back (though probably not your time).
