[alfa] Re: GTV8, power-to-weight etc.
George
Simply calculating power-to-weight figures will probably get you
absolutely nowhere when trying to fathom tested acceleration figures.
Torque is what you're really interested in. In fact, torque curve, power
curve, weight (how much fuel was in the tank? How many people on
board?), traction/wheelspin (suspension design, differential, tyres
etc., etc.,), gearing (gearbox AND axle), speed of gearchanges (this and
gearing are usually major factors in 0-60 tests), use of clutch, driver
technique, location of test, power-loss in drivetrain, etc., etc., all
play a role.
There's little point in comparing power-to-weight figures between the
cars. If you were comparing a Fiat 500 to top-fuel dragster, it might
help but unlikely to in this case.
In another post, you mention that a magazine wrote about something
called a 75 Green Cloverleaf (2.5 v6, 14inch wheels etc). The earlier
Cloverleafs were 2.5, the later 3.0 very similar to the Milano Verde in
the US, I believe.
