RE: [alfa] RE: alfa-digest V9 #782

Sam, you're right. 7.5 lbs/gal is 0.898698201 kg/L--according to Google's
calculator; that calculator can do anything! ev

When a pilot does weight and balance calculations, you usually assume
oil weighs 7.5 lbs/gal, and avgas 6 lbs/gal. That oil weight value
converted to kg/L would be (back of the envelope) 0.89 kg/L for oil?
You might want to check my wurk. (I figured it was a valid comparison,
since the plane I rent and the Alfa I own take the same quantity of oil.
:) )

The real question, though, or my real question, is how many kilograms of
oil are there in a litre (at, say, 18 degrees centigrade)?

All of my original Alfa Romeo parts books and owner's manuals quote oil
capacity in Kg. This probably makes for an accurate unit of oil no
matter what the temperature, and so is useful for engineering purposes,
but less useful when buying oil.
