Michael,
I've towed my 1986 Spider on its 4 wheels 5200 miles this summer behind
my motor home without any problems. I leave it in neutral with the key
in the ignition so the steering wheel is free. Some days we went 500
miles but I did keep speeds below 65 mph. I never worried about the
tranny as I make sure it has the proper amount of lube oil in it.
