RE: [alfa] is there asbestos in the heat shield

FYI, it's A-L-F-A (Alfa), not alpha. Even back in '69...

It probably is made of asbestos. Treat it as though it is, since even
if it isn't asbestos it is likely to be hazerdous to inhale. When
removing where a resperator, gloves and long sleves. Wet the area with
water using a spray bottle. Put it in a heavy duty plastic bag. Throw
it in the trash.

I have a 69 alpha roundtail. In the process of removing the clutch
hydraulic lines I had to remove a heat shield under the driver's side of
the car. THe shield seems to protect the lines and the drivers feet. THe
shield is made out of a white chalky pressed material.

Is this shield made out of asbestos?!
