Brett,

You are still getting warm air because the mixing stepper motor may be shot.
For cold (outside) air, you have to put the temperature on "Lo" to
completely bypass the heater core.  The heater will carry some hot water
just from the backup from the radiator.

AlfaBill carries the OEM Sanden compressor at an very good price.  I stuck
with R 12 and the system works fine.  You can also use a 3M product to tint
the windows to help the cooling process.
