had the same thing happen to mine. the round thing is the pressure
accumulator. the humming thing is the pump. comes off pretty easy -
need to follow procedure in the manual to relieve pressure in the system
(if there is any - might not be after listening to your symptoms).

I had a bad pump and bad accumulator... I followed the manual, and
there was still pressure in the accumulator. Me and everything in a
10' radius got a nice spray of brake fluid. I'm not sure how I
goofed, so follow the manual closely.
