Re: steel lines for clutch master cylinder, 69 boat tail

Subject: steel lines for clutch master cylinder, 69 boat tail
My son and I are working on a 69 1750 spider (boattail). It's his summer
project.
The car sat in the open for 12 years and the clutch master cylinder was
frozen
(due to rust). I had to cut the two steel lines going to the cylinder to get
it off the car. Now I need to replace the two steel lines. None of the local
car parts places carry similar lines.
Does anyone know the size of the lines (diameter?) and is there an internet
source for the lines?
Thanks
steve g and son

I've never seen new lines available, couldn't even find fittings for either
the MC or slave.
At Jon Norman's suggestion www.alfa-parts.com , he sold me a new flex clutch
line simply as a fitting source. Cut off the rubber hose, and tap the steel
end for an 1/8 NPT to a 3AN nipple (AN816-3) - use one fitting at the slave
cylinder, the other at the MC. Then use standard AN Coupling nuts (AN818-3)
and sleeves (AN819-3) with 3/16 steel bundy brake line to bend your own
steel line. Make your own or buy a premade steel braid flex line of the
approppriate length to go from the slave cyl to the steel line. You can get
all of the above (except bundy tube, standard NAPA parts store stuff) at
www.pegasusautoracing.com as well as summit racing, aircraft spruce, or any
of the many other good race parts suppliers.
Good luck, e-mail me back if you want some more help with this and no one
else comes up with a better solution
