RE: Alfa appraisal

I bought a Pinto from Ohio once, and it was more holes than metal, but it
seemed to fit the needs of the time. Despite it's 28,000 original miles and
low $500 price, that Pinto was not a very good buy for any purpose other
than cheap transport that was mostly reliable, and with a sway bar it was
almost fun at times. Ohio salts the roads. Lets face it, any car's worth is
a curve of price, needs and desirability and some Spiders are not worth $10
delivered to your back yard. Now that I think of it, this was the same
period of time in the late 70's that I bought a 59 Giulietta coupe for $500
that was in great running condition with a solid body. It was always as
reliable as the later model lower mile Pinto, far more fun and far better in
most respects than my buddies Maserati 3500GT that seldom got him home. Hum,
and to think I traded the Alfa off to get my wife a low mile Opel Manta that
is probably a Toyota frame today. My bet is that Jamie will also be sorry at
some point down the road that he sold the Spider....as Mileage and model
years are meaningless the other side of engineering and maintenance.

collectors, and SCM is better yet.

Jamie, if you're in Cleveland, well that settles it. The Spider is only
worth about $350.

Now what's your address so I can fly out and pick it up?
