Re: Surface mount speaker for Spider

I have a '73 Spider and did the following 10 years ago with the
stereo/speakers, and it sounds great (top up or down!).

Put a nice set of speakers in the doors with separate tweeters (5-1/4 with
separates). Then put an 8-inch subwoofer behind the seat through the back
wall passenger compartment wall to the trunk. It is ealier than it sounds.
Put an amp in the trumk to power it all and you will have the best possible
sounding stereo in a Spider you can imagine. All for a reasonable amount of
money (probably can do this for about $400 or $500). I can send photos of
what I did here.

You then can drive the amp with whatever head-unit you like and use the
fader to control the mix of sub and speakers. No rear speakers needed and
it is a waste anyhow as the front is all that matters here if they are nice.
Front speakers provide the staging in a car anyhow, and for an open top car,
forget the rears and go with the sub.

Food for thought...
