CAFE Racers

Please pardon the non-Alfa content.

<snip>
Fuel economy regs for them are different. As far as I know, they are still not
included under CAFE (this is where the term CAFE Racer arose, underpowered
but highly stylized cars in the 70's, such as the Mustang II King Cobra),
</snip>

I believe the term cafe racer actually came from Brit bikes from the 50's and
60's. A lot of them were modified Triumphs, Nortons, BSAs, and other marques.
Many were mixed and matched engines and frames. Bikes such as the Triton and
Norvin were born in this era. One of the sought after frames was the Norton
Featherbed. A popular hangout was the Ace Cafe. I'm sure there is a lot more
history that I'm not covering, but it's all I can remember off the top of my head
with any certainty.
