RE: bad runnin spider

Dave -

I had a similar problem once with an '87 ...

There was a break in the harness going to the coolant temperature sender.
Car would idle fine, and go ok in reverse. Try to drive the car forward and
it would die. The wire was broken right at the connector, when idling it
made contact. Try to drive (or rev the engine) the car and the torque of the
engine moving on the mounts would break the connection.

It's a long shot, but worth checking.

HTH,

Jeff

Subject: bad runnin spider

hi all -
the spider (86) has started acting up, with the engine
loosing power. the symptom is thus: full power
cutting rapidly to almost none and back again to
full. a very jerky motion! the car will idle fine.

at times, displaying another symptom: idles fine,
but will not accelerate. basically, no power.

i'm thinking either fuel pump or fuel filter.
the fuel pump *sounds* ok. if it's not that,
it's electrical(?)

thanks for any advice you can offer...
