Re: Converting Alfetta GTV from Spica to Bosch FI
Tom,
At one point I was planning on doing something similar w/ my '78
Alfetta GT. The only hangup I know of is that the intake ports in the bosch
head where it meets the intake manifold have an extra cutout to accommodate
the bosch fuel injectors. If you look at a bosch intake manifold gasket you
will see that the ports are more egg shaped rather than roundish like the
spica version. I was planning on modifying my spica head to match the bosch
manifold, but this is something that should really only be done well with
the head removed. You are probably better off just finding a good used bosch
head.
I was actually planning on using a bosch LH-Jetronic system and got as
far as collecting a majority of the parts and info needed for such a
conversion before other projects came up and the EFI as well as the rest of
the projects related to the master plan for this car found themselves on
long term hold.
Depending on how much customizing you want to do you might want to
check out TR Induction (I think that is the name) which manufactures some
nice EFI conversion related parts that might let you use the spica manifold.

Subject: Converting Alfetta GTV from Spica to Bosch FI
I am about fed up with Spica on my '79 Alfetta GTV, and I don't see
carburetors as an alternative. Since there are a lot of 2000 Spiders with
Bosch
injection in the local boneyards, I am considering a conversion. The O2
sensor can
easily be dealt with, but is there any need for changes to head, block or
housings. Such as a thermotime switch fitting, etc?
