polishing stainless

Buffing stainless is easy to do at home, it takes time though. Great way to
pass the time while the car's being painted...

Buy a cheapo buffing motor from Harbor Freight for about $60. Then buy the
stainless polishing kit from eastwood. You get three compounds:- Emery, that
gets the scratches out (having already got the big ones with wet/dry paper),
then stainless compound that does all the hard work and smooths it out - and
finally a white rouge that buffs up to a high shine. I also bought bigger
wheels from eastwood that sped things up nicely. I got really great, if not
perfect results, probably more patience required.

Your results may vary, but do buy big leather gloves and a full face-mask,
because 1/2 hp is a lot.

And for some off-topic spice, Anthony Bourdain can write ok (don't know if he
can cook, I personally couldn't tell from reading a book) but if you'd read his
book you'd know that the "finest thing he ever ate" was in a London restaurant.
