You couldn't really call it a 3-litre motor from the 75, as
the 75 (at
least the 3-litre version) hadn't been built at that stage.
I believe
it was the first Alfa 3-litre V6.... which might be one of
the reason
they built the limited production car with carbs, when a
properly calibrated EFI wasn't yet available.
I seem to recall it ran 3 x twin choke downdraft webers, not
dellortos.

You are right that it is not the 3.0 engine from a Milano/75, rather an
Autodelta expansion of the cylinder capacity from 2.5 to 3.0, concerned to
the heads, the crankshaft, the pistons, and liners. It did have 6 vertical
single-barrel Dell'Orto FRPA40's mounted, like those fitted to the Alfa
Sei, suitably tweaked for competition use. It was built in 1984-85. It had
186 HP DIN at 6700 rpm
