RE: Turbo Charged Spider?

"I love driving the spider, still able to do 80-90mph on empty
stretches, but with these new convertibles (Z3, TT, SLK, Miata) out
there, they fly by without trying... hehehehe."

That's the sad facts of driving an older car. That said, you'll
probably get more positive comments in your Spider than in a Z3, TT,
SLK, etc. It all comes down to what you want from your Spider. You can
hotrod your motor and get 150 - 160hp. The general consensus for
twinspark output (you get them from Europe by the way) is that they push
out about 25 hp more than a standard motor. Even if you put a small
block V8 under the hood, you won't have the refinement or the features
of the newer cars, though you may be able to match or better them in
acceleration.

I'd say enjoy your Spider as is. When it comes time for a rebuild, put
some performance parts in to make it go a little faster or sound better.
You've got a fun old car, and it isn't reasonable to expect it to be a
fast new car.

By the way, the V8 conversion is for example only. That is very wrong
both morally and technically.
