Does it really only leak when the engine is running? How about with just the rear fuel pump running? The last time I reinstalled the Spica pump on my '74 Spider, I had what looked like a similar leak. It was actually leaking from one of the injector line check valves. Those are the fittings directly below the injector lines, but above the top surface of the pump. The line was tight to the check valve fitting, but the valve was loose in the pump body. If that's your problem, the leak will only occur with the engine running, since that part of the pump is only pressurized when the engine is running. If it's really a leak from the fuel inlet, it should leak with the ignition on, even with the engine not running, since the rear fuel pump will be pressurizing the fuel inlet. If it is leaking from the fuel inlet, and a new washer doesn't work well enough, try a few turns of Teflon tape on the threads.

I've developed a gas leak on the inlet port on my 79 Alfetta
Spica pump. I checked for loose or deteriorating rubber, and
all seems well; it's tight and dry at the base of the hose. Below
the port is bathed in gas when the engine is running. I removed
the port and examined the copper washer and it is intact with
no cracks or visual deformities. The surface on the pump that
the washer touches seem smooth as well.

Any ideas as to what is wrong? Will a new copper washer
seal up nicely?
