Re: Driving my automobile... San Francisco to Miami...

John:

As Mark inquired in his recent reply, Will you be at the convention in Ft. Lauderdale? It sounds like you are making a one way trip to Miami, 4 days? Whew, ca. 3000 miles 750 mi. per day. Do you have two or more drivers? 10-12 hr days behind the wheel can be tiring Drive safely, take breaks. Bill Harkell's Odyssey took him a month for 10,000 mile one lap of US. If you're at the convention, we'd like to meet you. Here's our advice.

Last year we took our spider to LA / Orange Cy for the Alfa Convention. We decided for the first time to go and come north on I 40 (Old Rte. 66) instead of I10. Considerations, were lower high temperatures due to higher altitude and more northern latitude. Scenery turned out to be great! We will use that route again and we recommend it. Our computer mapping program says the mileage difference is negligible as is the driving time. If you're driving both ways, Try them both! (We have more details on this route too drop us a note for more.)

If you decide to go via I10 Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore AL, about 15-20 miles west of Mobile, and the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola are worth your time. There's great Cajun food in Breaux Bridge Louisiana, (among many places, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, (New Orleans is out of the way a bit if you're really trying to make time)) For more specific advice, please contact me off digest.

Best Wishes,
Bernie & Diana Bennett
On the road beginning 27 Jun to Alfas by the Beach, Ft. Lauderdale

Any words of wisdom? Must sees? Words of caution? Handy list of Alfa mechanics on or near the entire
length of the 10?

I regularly drive my Milano from SF to LA and back
with no problems and have every confidence in my car. But as my boy scout training told me - always be
prepared!

Wave if you see a black Milano barrelling through your
town....
