L-Jetronic details

spits out a stream of gas, the injector's faulty.
That's not quite right. Opening the airflow meter will turn on the fuel pump on an L-Jet car (not on a Motronic one, though), but it won't fire the cold start injector. The cold start injector only comes on when the key is in the START position and the thermo-time switch is closed. I'm not sure about the Motronic system, or of those cars even have cold start injectors.
