RE: Spica Pumps

This is another me too reply ... I've gotten several rebuilt pumps from Wes,
and other than one faulty thermostatic actuator (which he promptly replaced
at no cost) I've never had a problem.

I just got a pump from him that I will be installing on a '74 Berlina
tomorrow (hopefully).

Subject: SPICA rebuilds

As I am finally in the process of having my engine
rebuild, the big unknown at this point remains the
condition of the SPICA pump. It seems to work ok in
general, no gas/oil dilution, although there is a
flat spot in the performance between 2500-3500rpm.
The shop that is doing the engine job mentioned that
lately, the rebuilt spica pumps seem to have an
alarmingly high failure rate, a fact that is
corroborated by another shop as well. As a matter of
fact, they are advising switching over to carbs for
that reason (no, I don't want to start the SPICA vs
carbs thread again!)... They told me that if I want to
go with a rebuilt pump, I should order it myself.
They are worried about having the pull the pump
multiple times at their expense...

Does anybody have positive or negative experiences
with rebuilt pumps that they can share?

Thanks a lot,

I have had many injection pumps rebuilt by Wes Ingram and have yet to have a
pump that has had to be removed and sent in for repairs. Does this shop
really
know how to properly set up an Alfa injection system?
