I was looking at the infamous Cigarette Seals in the gasket set I got
from IAP... and was wondering about
their size.
I picked up a Service Bulletin reprint book on Ebay.. has a lot of
info, but the majority for the 6 cyl cars.
One thing I found, was a note dated 12-89 about the seals, where they
give a size spec for them:
Length 64 mm +- 0.5 mm
Diameter 10.2 mm +- 0.1 mm
Of course, the ones in the gasket set are about 61.5 x 10.0 mm.
I might have been happy if I never saw this, since they stick up about
1.5 mm above the block, when test fit. Sometimes a little information
is a bad thing.
So, anyone have a comment? Suggestions for good seating and tight, oil
drip free living? I guess we don't have much choice on gasket set
contents nowadays, or is there a known "good cigarette" that you can
order separate?
