               Sounds like what happened to the wiring on one of my Fiats.
The connection corrodes, causing resistance and heat in the wire. If
you replace the wiring to the good fan remaining and fix the corrosion
you should only need to replace one fan. Of course this is not from GTV6 
experience. Maybe another list member knows better.
