re A/C compressor not kicking on



the A/C compressor clutch will not engage if the low side pressure switch is open (shows infinite resistance) - it opens when pressure isn't enough.  The pressure switch (typically) is on top of the dryer, not positive on the Spider though.  Unplug it and measure the resistance: if it's open, that will stop the clutch.  You can then short across the terminals of the plug on the harness side and see if your compressor then kicks on.  If the clutch then engages, you don't have enough low side pressure (out of freon) or a bad pressure switch.  

The resistance on the A/C clutch btw should be around 4 to 6 ohms.  Under 3 and it's probably shorted / burned.  Tricks i learned this weekend, thank goodness for smart people.  dan in kc, 89 spider
