temp sensor

Dave asked>Secondly is there any problem tapping off the temp sender for the
gauge
(could the sender be in error?) and running it so a simple comparator with a
voltage divider (pot) on the complimentary input? Operating a transistor
with its output would allow for an infinite range of switch setting for the
"fan on" temp.
Discussion?

I wouldn't do it. If the sender goes bad (reads low) then you can lose the
fan and not know that anything is wrong. It is always good practice to use
separate sensors when you have two systems that control or indicate the same
parameter. In safety systems it is a requirement.
