Can pilot bearing failure be delayed? (Transaxle)

What I can only assume to be my pilot bearing has just started to make
noises in the last thousand miles or so. I know this is not of immediate
concern, but it's annoying. Has anyone had luck with any super
lubricants (Lucas, etc.) to help quiet this down or help it last longer?
Or if I change out the gearbox oil completely, what might be the best
replacement? Gearbox oil was by PO, I don't know what it is.  - Espen
