rear brake lines, 1982 GTV 6

i'm replacing everything in my wife's gtv-6 from the rear proportioning
valve back, mostly using excess supplies from the race car bin. it'll all
be 3AN aircraft style, as that's what i have the tools for and knowledge
of.

i'm looking at the line forward of the proportioning valve, and it's a bit
ratty, but it sure looks like i'll need to unbolt a lot of stuff to gain
access to remove and replace it with one i fabricate -- the cross member at
the front of the transmission, the mounting for the rear ends of the
torsion bars (not to mention dropping the front and center exhaust
systems.)

has anyone done this? do i really need to pull all that stuff out to get at
the entire length of the line?

i didn't have to do this on the race car, as i rerouted the line through
the passenger compartment there.

thanks,
  richard
