164 seat movement failure

Hi all,
Found the seat fuse luckily and all is working again except the driver seat
rearward motion. Tried tapping on the motor whilst holding down the switch to
no avail. Motor bad maybe or switch? Dunno. Would there be a trick up
someone's sleeve whereby the seat could be moved backwards without power and
just left there? Is there a safe way of putting power directly to the motor to
get it to run rearwards? Thanks.
