Air flow meter testing: help
In an attempt to troubleshooting my 2L engine problem (see previous posts), I
tested the air flow meter according to information provided online by the ALFA
ROMEO OWNERS OF OREGON (very useful info, Thanks)
It is indicated "Check that the resistance increases as the flap opens. Check
between brown/white and blue/white wires". Those wires correspond to pins 9
and 8 on the air flow meter.
I got constant value of 220 OHM regardless of the flap position.
I am not convinced about the accuracy of the suggested test, beacuse I removed
the black lip to look inside the potentiometer and circuit. Although I am not
an electronic specialist, pins 9 and 8 appear to be linked by a resistance on
the circuit, thus maybe accounting for the constant reading of 220 OHM.
Also, My Mitchel CD (OK not the best one.) indicates that there is no single
resistance test for the Air Flow Meter except for the temperature sensor which
is within the specification.
I would really appreciate if someone, a very dedicated Alfa owner, could
crosscheck my measured resistance value between pin 9 and 8 on air flow meter
from spider 1982 to 1989. It is a ten minutes test !!!!!
Or, maybe there are "official resistance values" given somewhere for teh AFM
Thanks
