I wasn't going to reply to the list (already sent this reply to Karl) until
seeing folks talk about workarounds.  My 93 Veloce light has come on 3
times, and I've dealt with it easily in every case. Here's what I told Karl:

See the following service bulletins. In particular, be aware that there are
two styles of airbag ECU's (last URL).
